Kinlochroag Highland Fold is located in Uig, Isle of Lewis in the Western Isles of Scotland(Outer Hebrides). Approximately seventeen minutes drive from the main town of Stornoway and twenty minutes from the airport.

Although located on the edge of Europe the island is easily accessible, you can fly to Stornoway in under an hour from Glasgow and from London in less than three, there are also direct flights from Aberdeen, Inverness and Edinburgh.

The Isle of Lewis is famous for its golden beaches, acres of wildflowers and abundant wildlife including, otters, eagles, deer, seals, puffins, whales and dolphins. It is also home to the famous Callanish Stones, Harris Tweed and more recently the popular television series 'Castaway'.

Modern technology places the island firmly in the twenty first century however the pace of life is leisurely, gentle and the envy of many a visitor.

Although many changes have been made and the islands are more accessible with facilities to welcome tourists from around the World some things remain the same.

You will still hear the Gaelic being spoken as an everyday language; it is still the first language for many. Crofting, weaving and fishing are still the main source of income with tourism as the newcomer. The quad may have taken over from Shank's Pony for rounding up stray sheep but tractors carry home the peat's that are still hand cut dried and stacked ready to keep the home fires burning.

If you are interested in our fold it would be an ideal opportunity to enjoy a short break or take a holiday. There is plenty on offer, enjoy a range of activities from climbing, hill walking and cycling to diving, sea and freshwater fishing.

You might just want to take a walk by yourself on one of our many sandy beaches. If you enjoy nature the vast range of flora and fauna to be seen and the many species of birds that inhabit our shores will delight you. We now have a self catering cottage ~ Hawthorn Cottage a real rural retreat.

PLEASE if you do wish to visit our Fold get in touch first by either phone or email.
